this actually better than I expected. It's a bit slow for a thriller/mystery, but the fire fighting scenes are interesting. The characters are okay too.

Do any of you know how to search discussions in Goodreads? I'd like to be able to find an ongoing discussion, it it exists and then read it before I start one of my own.
Also: is it possible to save or bookmark discussions?

well this is totally depressing. It is an emotional read, and not so pleasant. She writes well enough, but I don't get this switching from past story to present. there better be something happening soon. And the point of this?? I'm half thru and wondering if I should finish.

snooze alert. I am only reading this because I can't find anything else to read!

I"m enjoying the writing but I'm finding it hard going reading on my PC since Idont' have an e-reader or tablet.

this is just too depressing and when it's not depressing it's just boring.

I still can't say I like this book. It is wonderful writing, though. I just don't like one of main characters at all.

I lost interest in this.

I just don't know. I don't like M. Flaubert and his lifestyle. Ms. Nightingale is rather well drawn and she just may keep me here to the end.

the heavy hand of Amazon is starting to emerge: my pages are being filled up with ADs, large colorful ads for books, but still guys, cut me slack. I read a 1.5 books per week. I come here to look for recommendations, for pity's sake! Don't think you can sell me something.

I think that I'm going to stop using goodreads by the end of the year. This new policy giving the site owners the power to delete reviews or ban people gives me the creeps. It was bad enough that the site is owned by Amazon now, but these actions and policies are troubling. Amazon has its own review system already. Back to library thing.com I guess. This site is easier to use, but I still have some principles.
