I sure do feel like a chump for waiting till I'm thirty to read Jane Eyre. It's delightful so far. Mark my words: this Currer Bell fellow is going places.

It has taken me a shamefully, shamefully long time to start this but I'm very glad I finally have.

Getting there. The going is slow.

I can't believe I haven't finished this yet. It's good. Wish I could draw upon a greater depth of knowledge of 12th-c European history but I'm still getting a lot out of it.

Grim, grim, grim. Humans have always been terrible. Compelling read, though. I'm irritated with myself for taking so long to finish.

Definitely reached a point of "will finish this out of grim determination and morbid curiosity." This book is deeply, deeply invested in making sure the reader understands the heroine is blond. Her hair is the color of light, you know.

Is it possible to remove a book from your currently reading shelf without indicating you've finished the book? Basically, an "I give up on you" button?

I enjoy a good goofy historical romance as much as anybody but this one's reliance on cliches, stereotypes, and just lazy badness is really grating. I will probably finish it but I'm going to be making Grumpy Cat face the whole time.

Ugh. Lazy, lazy, lazy. I don't like giving up on a book. I like finishing things I start. I'll give A Bed of Spices another few chapters but then I might need to bid this one an unfond adieu.

I want to travel back in time to 1960s Queens and hang out doing nerd stuff with nerdy young Al Roker. I also want to eat his mother's cooking.

Peculiar book. I do want to find out what happens, and I know I'll end up ordering the other two books from the library, but somehowl it's leaving me cold.

I'm reminded of an old This Modern World. In the final panel Biff scowls at Sparky and says, "you're making one of your little points, aren't you?" The author is making one of his or her little points. I'm just not 100% sure what it is yet.

You know, it's not badly written. I enjoy it while I'm reading & there are delightful, clever moments sprinkled throughout. But I kind of have to force myself to pick it up and keep reading each time I put it down. I do want to see where the author is going with all this. It's just...I dunno.
