This is due back to the library today, so I'll probably need to check it back out again soon to finish.

Okay, it looks like the anti-vax thing was just the one short passage. Still shockingly irresponsible on the author's part, but I suppose not worth quitting the book over.

I always read at least 20% of a book before quitting, but this anti-vax nonsense just put this one on short notice. Picoult has 11% more to put that down like the lie it is or I'm walking away.

I've been enjoying this book, but it's hard to see how it sticks the landing after the latest development.

I'm enjoying this story, but Hodges and his partners feel very peripheral. So far at least, they really could have been excised entirely without affecting the story's plot in the slightest.

I'm a little confused about how this guy who's been in jail since the early 70s is so good with computers upon his release.

This is supposedly the second book in the "Bill Hodges Trilogy," but I'm a third of the way through and that character is only now popping up for the first time.

Nothing like a character in a book reflecting that something only ever happens in books.

I'm basically just reading this book out of spite at this point, but we can add bad editing to its list of sins. "I will use that gratitude into manipulating him to making all of you free." Really??

Goodreads did some really weird things when I was trying to update what version of this book I'm currently rereading, but I think I've got it sorted now.

So far this book hasn't really justified its own existence, and the constant flirting with antisemitism isn't helping matters.

In honor of / preparation for the movie coming out next weekend, I'm rereading this first Dark Tower book. I probably won't do a full reread of the series just now, unless the movie really fires me up.

We've now reached the end of Return of the Jedi, which is where other Star Wars novels I've read can get dicey. Let's hope this one nails the landing the way it has everything that came before.

This white-haired old wookiee is grooming her adopted human son / copilot and it's basically just a perfect moment. Please let Claudia Gray write every piece of Star Wars going forward.

This is telling a really great story, but I'm continually terrified that it's going to spin into some rom-com nonsense. So far so good, though.

This book is telling a better love story than any of the Star Wars movies, too.

I'm only through the prologue and this book has already given the Galactic Empire more moral shading than all of the Star Wars movies combined.

Finally Heimdall spoke up. "I made an oath," he said, "regarding the trickster."

Odin gave him a reproving look. "As I recall, you fulfilled it at Ragnarok. How many more times do you have to kill him?"

"Once more should do it," said Heimdall between his teeth.

"Now you're being childish," said Odin firmly.

It seems increasingly unlikely that this book will develop a plot before it ends.

I hate when characters who are presumably speaking something other than modern English talk about rhymes, spelling, or anything else that could obviously only be true of English.

I'm really digging this vibe where the Norse gods are/were real but Ragnarok happened centuries ago and the old stories are all but forgotten.

I adore Claire North, but this one just isn't working for me as well as her other novels have. It's a little too experimental for my tastes, I think.
