holy shit.

they're dancing to Daft Punk in the Lighthouse and i want to hold this book in my heart forever and never let go of it.

are they using Tesco tokens as currency? that's gas. this book has seriously wormed its way into my heart.

the dialogue so far has been very Dublin and very enjoyable. the prose has the right amount of flowers. the story is the right amount of immersive. this book is a real treat.

the use of second-person storytelling is very intriguing, not something i'm used to consciously experiencing in novels, and i'm interested to experience more of it.

just finished the bit where Amanda goes to church with Anna and her family, and i was expecting to wrinkle my nose and roll my eyes at the religious stuff. but it actually struck a chord with me. so much of this book is doing that, despite the "plot" not being all that engaging.

i was expecting this to feel like a typical American high school novel. and it does, hoo boy does it ever, and i don't always enjoy that. but it's threaded through with the same devastating internal narrative i've been living with for as long as i can remember. and i can't stand to put it down for very long. i have a feeling this may be the hardest "easy read" of my life.

okay so it was pretty bad for a while but now Harry and Draco are throwing chairs at each other

-reads the apparent chemistry between Albus and Delphi and looks into the camera like he's on the Office- really. really? come ON.

as far as play scripts go, it's not badly constructed. but the story is kinda boring so far. i'm not really enjoying or connecting with any of the characters.
