Turns out there was a time about 6 million years ago where the Mediterranean drained due to the straits of Gibraltar shutting, causing a rush of fresh water into other seas. This then caused the ocean to be more easily freezable triggering an ice age.

Easy and accessible read so far. Some parts feel like they inspired the new series of Cosmos: A spacetime Odyssey

I'm reading a book about stress whilst stressed. I feel like I have entered a sitcom.

I'm reading this extremely fast. I'll definitely be checking out more Stephen King.

Wow, things have gotten seriously trippy.

Seems to be treading on lots of old ground from the previous book.

I really appreciate how the author is really trying not to attach himself or his opinions to most of the content but is constantly pointing at scientific evidence which seems fairly legitimate. The problem with lots of "diet" books seems to be that they are selling a personality to promote the diet, which really puts me off them.

Have decided it's not worth reading the entire of this book since most of part one is a repeated message of the health benefits of plant-based diets over meat based ones. I think I've read enough to trust that all of the other diseases in the book are covered with suitable evidence.

I shall read the chapters about prostate cancer and depression and move onto part 2—which is just dietary recommendations.

The list of references is 176 pages long 😵

Has been super easy reading so far! Such a funny book 😂

The concepts in this book are pretty hard to grasp. The majority of the content is analogies and metaphors, which are really useful.

This book is making me look at the layout of my room and the design of its furniture in disgust for the first time.

It is only at this point the author starts to explain what the Higgs boson is. Then again it does need the setup and background of the entire book to explain it.

This book is taking me ages to read, but is a real mind bender!

Similar to "Thinking in Systems" I love how it makes me question the way I approach and model problems.

The "How we violated parity..." chapter was so fun to read—it's seeing into the mind of someone making a massive scientific discovery.
