So far, unimpressed. There is an overuse of made up or archaic terminology that is distracting, coupled with characters I am finding it hard to have interest in. I think I've made it this far before... After reading 6 very good books in two weeks, I fear this one will take longer or be put down again to save my sanity.

Slow, but not as slow as the previous two novels. So far fairly interesting. Still not enough nightrunning. Someone let the dense out, they're blatantly overlooking things they shouldn't have missed for the sake of the story.

Long awaited. Will it meet expectations or will it be as over-angsty and drably boring as the last two?

Molecular orgy, nuff said.

Comparing photons escaping the sun to drunkards stumbling away from a lamppost reminds me of my chemistry teacher likening an atom to a baseball.

And there be Death. And a pair of Luggage... at which point I burst out laughing and further convinced my coworkers that I'm stark raving.

This is one of those "the whole gang's back together" types, at this point all we're missing is Death grumbling about Rincewind missing his appointment.

I could elaborate on the issues this book has from word one, but it amuses me too much with its overabundance of emo teen angst that I give it that allowance that I refuse to give to the books that followed in this arc. The whining is really too amusing.

I always did love the part where Will sings in this one.

Not my favourite of the series as it focuses mostly on the Drew children but an interesting bit and another adventure set approximately 4 and a half months after The Dark is Rising.

I love how this is exciting and yet subdued in a way that is something I've found common to the time and kind of writing.

I love this series still.

I don't lightly give up on a book or series, but I think at this point I can honestly say I'm rather disenchanted with this series. Despite this book begin more adventure than the others, it's pat attitude toward certain circumstances has left a foul taste in my mouth. I find Geb to be much more interesting the more I see him, but the lack of filling him out drives me crazy. He's a plot device, not a character.

I was a bit struck by the fact that sparrowhawk wasn't the main character... But looks like he has appeared.

Yep... so never having read any Gaiman novels, I feel like I'm just reading more Pratchett... maybe it's along the lines of Pratchett writing while Gaiman whispered ideas into his ear?

So Death is described just like he is in Discworld... thus in my head, he is voiced by Christopher Lee (The Colour of Magic)... and I'm further expecting him to be cursing Rincewind and his continuing escapes from his Time.

The goal is to read this and finish it this weekend.

This one certainly is more fascinating than the last one... didn't think we'd see Solun i Merengil Seregil Methari Bokthersa or his cousin Corruth i Glamien... Fancy that.

Oh look! Seregil's grandaddy and great uncle met Tamir. Alright, exciting moment of connection. /end squee
