I’m loving this so far. It’s 50% of the way through and no whisper of romance yet, and the worldbuilding is great. The bar is low, but so far its passing it!

He has a compass that can tell him whether or not someone’s lying, but if the person thinks they’re telling the truth doesn’t mean they actually are, that’s like lying 101

And here we have a world and political system and conflict that is really interesting! Let us hope the romantic subplot does not ruin it ! 😃

I fear I have to read the sequel 😪 maybe I’ll enjoy it more knowing the romance is already fleshed out?? So the subplot won’t distract from the interesting stuff? We shall see in November 🫡

It’s a good plot twist. I was able to see it coming only right before it was revealed, and the red herring was pretty solid. This book could’ve been so much better had the romance just been taken a little slower

I knew it!! Also, the amount of times this girl has said “the strong line of his thigh/leg pressed against me” or whatever like bro can you come up with something else ?? 😭

Honestly the tomb stuff and ancient Egyptian history is super interesting, this book just gets ruined with the romantic subplot. Again, it’s not the worst romantic subplot ever, I’m just tired of the cliches and quick development

What’s the purpose of inserting his POV when they’re super short (this one was literally just “bloody hell”)

I’m liking this but the romantic subplot is like every other romantic subplot and is taking it down a bit. It’s not BAD I’m just over the instant attraction and protectiveness of love interests already in the first half of the book

When will MCs be able to find someone else attractive without having to “fight against” it or blush and get flustered? Like, I can find people attractive everyday (I don’t) but I don’t react the way characters always seem to do in books lmao, that’s the way you act around a crush 🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s a pretty person!! Act normal!!
