Sooooo unrelated but I think it’s much more romantic and powerful when you choose to love rather than claim to have no choice in the matter. Like “of course I came back for you, I had no choice.” But, you did. And because you love me, you chose to come back. That’s powerful, more than claiming to have no choice, implying that it’s not up to you whether or not you save me. It takes away the agency of the act

I’m enjoying the mystery and the world and characters so far, it’s just so obviously a debut with the over use of similes and metaphors and info dumps and emphasizing things the reader can pick up on by themselves, and I never thought I’d be one to say things like that 😅 it’s definitely not the worst prose I’ve read so I’m happily along for the ride
