I think that Donna Tartt should take her time in between books and not just pump them out one after the other. If she did a revision or two of this book, it might not be half bad. Too bad she is in such a rush to put out 1 book every 10 years. Clearly she needed to work on this book for antoher 5 years

My new theory is that Letham is actually pulling a Major League an he wrote an atrociously bad book on purpose so he could declare bankruptcy and own a baseball franchise in Florida.

Fuck this fucking book. It is a complete and total disaster. The structure is sloppy, lacking tension or direction and dice the whole thing is, what appears to be a series of solipsistic reminiscence from Letham's own childhood, there is very little for a reader to invest in.
