Katerina was gone for so long that when she first popped up, I forgot who she was. I wonder what Lev is up to.

A lot more familiar with WWII than WWI so it's interesting getting to read a fictional version of the events that lead to WWI.

Perfect blend of politics and romance. Not sure which I prefer.

Aside from the sex (which is a turnoff), I am really enjoying this. Every storyline is interesting though the Ethel/Fitz story is the one I'm most interested in.

Loving the writing style and looking forward to seeing where things progress. I actually really like the flirtation between Ethel and Fitz.

Thus far I really like the writing style. I just worry this book will be TOO massive!

It's mostly just a bunch of interesting stories. I'm very disappointed. At least I didn't pay full price for this.

Still not enjoying it. I liked his argument for why he feels all people are secretly atheist and the story about cruising a gay bath house was amusing, but the vulgarity is a huge turn off and the NASA story was boring as hell!

I'm honestly surprised by how much I dislike it so far. I've like Penn when I've seen him on TV but here he comes across as dull. So far it's just a bunch of interesting stories told in a disjointed manner, nothing thought-provoking nor amusing.

Almost jumped the shark with that ridiculous the camerlengo gave that the audience was supposed to accept as super inspiring.

Possibly the best "action" book I've read. Would make a great movie (if it isn't one already)

Wish I knew more of Rome and the arts so I could "play along." Curious where the BBC subplot is going.

When it's not rambling on about boring science stuff, it's really exciting and tense.

Picked up now that the science talk has ended and the plot is actually beginning to develop.

Started out well. Hate the way he chooses to use the weak way of explaining that someone said something but doesn't tell the reader so that it's a mystery.

The Hughes disappearance was kind of a disappointment. I'm assuming he'll eventually be found.

Mostly curious what results in Hughes' death. So disappointing a promising individual was cut down like that.

Pretty much addicted to this book. How did Katsuyama ever make it all the way to Deputy Medical Examiner?

Really shows what a mockery our legal system is, especially when they introduce Kanarek.

Murder? Check. Rape? Check. Pedophilia? Check. Attempting to incite a "race apocalypse?" Check. Looks like there's absolutely nothing that Manson wasn't willing to do.

With the level of incompetence (Bugliosi claims he had to tell a policeman assigned solely to the Manson case his job was to gather evidence; he also details how medical examiner's testimony contradicted his autopsy notes), it's amazing it was possible for the prosecution to eventually earn their convictions.

So fascinating that I could probably read it all day.
