If they ever film this Idris Elba should be Dalinar! "Today. Today... At the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but in each other. Today there is not a man nor woman in here that shall stand alone. Not today. Today we face the monsters that are at our door and bring the fight to them! Today, we are *canceling* the apocalypse!"

Just read Eshonai's interlude - boom! Excellent switch of perspective! I am reeling with the possibilities. Hope we get more of this!

Really? I've just started - I'm at 3% in and I've just had to come up for air. I feel like I've been reading for ages. Only 3% and I've already been through an awesome matrix-style assassination attempt, a pitched battle and the teaser of some epic karma / reincarnating magic knights that all want to die.

After the magnificence of the Mistborn trilogy, perhaps it's too much to hope that Warbreaker will be up to scratch? As usual, the world building is superb - the introduction & chapters featuring Vasher & Lightsong are excellent, I just feel the writing for Siri & Vivenna to be frivolous - I feel like I'm in a Disney Princess adventure.

I'm not normally one for battle scenes - I find them dull and rarely of interest - however this has to be one of the most tense bus rides to work I've ever had!!
The writing here is superb, the editing cinematic and Sanderson never loses sight of the humanity caught up in the fighting.

So here's the thing. I hate running. Always have. More of a cycling kind of guy. My knees don't take kindly to having all 15 stone of me pounding up and down on the concrete. Yet I am absolutely *loving* this book! :)
This is a story about people, not just about running, and it is fascinating and entertaining and well written.

And it has also encouraged me to get off my arse and run around the Meadows...

There's always a time & a place for smart- arse Scottish crime fiction / sci-fi. Right now is not one of them it would seem. The premise of Halting State is great - a raiding party of orcs robbing banks inside a mmorpg spilling into reality. It might be the second person narrative, but hopefully I'll warm to it.

I really wasn't enjoying this - I found the present tense narrative grating and I just couldn't get into the first chapter with its philosophy on pizza delivery. But then it got better. I am now officially hooked.

Enjoyable mindless adventure :-)
got quite tense towards the end and I liked the way it built towards the final confrontation. Who will prevail?! Who will become the new apprentice?!

So far I'm enjoying this - Hamilton's story is poignant and he comes across as likeable, despite the choices he made. Also, while quite basic it's still better written than Armstrong's efforts.
