Re-reading before I read the sequel

Kind of trudging a bit here - feels a bit like all the chars are working against their best interests.

This might be the most confusingly formatted book I've ever tried to read? It has 13 parts, which can be read singly, in two volumes, or in a not yet released single volume. It has many authors and is a prequel to a series I haven't read...but Malinda Lo is one of the authors and there is fantasy politics with incidentally queer chars and the first 1/13 that was free on amazon was enjoyable? So here goes?

The style reminds me a little of Catch 22

This book is way more capital "L" Literature than I was expecting. Trying to not worry too much about parsing out plot lines from the artistically jumbled events

The only problem with reading everything by Malinda Lo is then I have to wait for her to write more books :(

It's nice to read a book that's hard to put down for a change
