Loving this just as much the second time around.

Rereading because this was one of the best things I read last year, and I read it in January.

Boy but this is skimmable.

Okay the parts that aren't set in the far-flung future are great, but the ones about the future kids are trash.

Y'know, this started off with promise but right now it just feels like a more gender progressive (but not any less shitty) Ender's Game

I am currently seeking hard sci-fi where the environment, non-humanoid aliens, or science itself are the antagonist. Examples: Blindsight by Watts; The Outside by Hoffmann; The Last Astronaut by Wellington; The Gone World by Sweterlitsch, even slightly The Expanse.

Is it a bad idea to read this during the pandemic? Probably. Am I excited in spite of myself? You betcha.
