I still think the air plant that produces atmosphere on Mars is a strange addition. If Mars is naturally uninhabitable, who settled it and established the atmosphere plant? Why can't Mars just be naturally breathable? WHY TAKE THESE UNNECESSARY STEPS, EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS???

Mostly through Riddles in the Dark, reading it to my 5yo. This is the facsimile of the first edition, where Gollum is nicer. It's kind of funny to see Gollum just offer to show Bilbo the way out, but I think I definitely prefer the more sinister version of him in later editions.

Me: "Where do you think Gandalf went?"
5yo: "Maybe to look around, or maybe to find a coffee shop."

Reading with the 5yo. So far the highlight has been the Blunt the Knives song.
