ran out of time on my audiobook loan, so I'll have to wait for it again to be able to finish this second book in the Mistborn series - very good so far!

Well, this is a first, got to the last page in the ARC only to discover ... it's not the last page in the story. Luckily the publisher's rep approved my digital ARC / e-galley request asap, so I can finish it.

I'm setting this one down for now, it's just a bit slow for me at the moment and I think I need to be in the right headspace to truly appreciate it. I may pick it up again later, perhaps to listen to while on a relaxing vacation.

Reading an egalley (advance reader e-book) from Netgalley and Ace Roc books. Not far in, but so good to be reading a new Harry Dresden novel again after five years without one, and now we learn that there will be two new Dresden novels this year with Peace Talks July 14 and Battle Ground coming September 29!

Listened to the first 25 hours of this 45 hour long audio book, but my two week loan is up. I own the e-book, so I'll continue reading the rest on my tablet. Very good so far, but whoa is this thing massive!

Can Long Endure is my favorite of the novellas making up The End of All Things so far! I really loved his characters in this story, a squad of soldiers tasked with putting down rebellions among various Colonial Union colony planets. But, what happens when some of the soldiers start questioning why they are using their skills and weapons against humans instead of against aliens?

Councilor Sorvath faces her most difficult diplomatic role yet. Agitators within the Conclave of several hundred alien races sense weakness at the top and scheme to take advantage. Meanwhile two different factions of humans are on their way to discuss future relations - including one of the most exciting rescues of of people in space after a spaceship attack!

Part One: The Life of the Mind -
Features pilot Rafe Daquin and the story of how he became a brain in a box. Suffice it to say that relations between Earth, the Colonial Union, and a host of alien species are very strained and quite complicated at the moment. A new plot to pit the CU against Earth is uncovered, but what can a brain in a box do?

A very good re-imagining of the legend of Robin Hood

Ha! I love it when authors make note within the story of the incorrect depictions of their characters on the covers. Capt. Desjani is jokingly telling her husband, Admiral Geary, that the cover of her tell-all memoir of him will feature "Some really heroic pose by you doing something you never did, probably. Maybe in battle armor. With a gun." Yup, that's the cover of almost every book in this series...

Not too far in and already the spooky "what is this place and what's going on here?" vibe reminds me a bit of House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski

Re-reading for book club for the first time in ten years.

An interesting story of a very small group of men working to save the treasured artwork of western Europe during the last year or so of the war.

I've read three of the stories in the anthology so far: The Lightning Tree by Patrick Rothfuss, How the Marquis Got His Coat Back by Neil Gaiman, and Now Showing by Connie Willis. All three of these were excellent!

re-reading for book club & the last time I read it was exactly six years ago ... for book club.

He is just starting the section on the Carol Burnett show after discussing his childhood & parents, college years, army life, early career on the Steve Allen show and then McHale's Navy. Funny stuff, but I still wish Conway read the audio himself.

I just started listening to this audio book and am really enjoying it, but am disappointed that Tim Conway does not narrate it.

I'm looking forward to the end of this one, not because its so compelling, but I just want to know how they finally caught Booth and have the story be finished. This one is pretty so-so for me.

gripping story of what happened years before the events in Wool, of how that world came to be.

Giving up on this one. Its not bad, but it just hasn't grabbed me and mademe care about the haracters or what happens to them. Too many other books on my to read list!

I lurve all of the little Star Wars references throughout these books - and now Angleberger has topped himself and dropped in a Star TREK reference too! The other middle school in town is Roddenberry M.S. - a hint at a possible spin off series of boks?

still good and Doctorow is doing a great job of confusing me on the issue of National Security in times of crisis, terror and war. I'm usually rooting for Marcus, but its not a black & white "us vs. them" issue.

A pretty good premise and decent characters so far. Unfortunately, the most wooden character is the protagonist Wyman Ford.

giving up on this - GRRM's story is just too dense & hard to follow.

Sci-Fi that's heavy on the Science, but very readable with some laugh-out-loud dialogue.

Kvothe and Tempi are on their way back to the Adem after Kvothe's band defeated the outlaw bandits and Kvothe survived his encounter with Felurian in the Fae lands.
