I love how this is tying together. Moving to 1984 I could see where this was going historically, and the different threads are beginning to converge.

Bloody hell, that prologue is brutal. And as we get into Art's introduction to the DEA and the War on Drugs, I think I can see how he's setting up that this is the thing that makes it all so much worse.

Stunningly good.

I confess that I was leery of an audio adaptation Neil Gaiman's stunning graphic novels, but was drawn in by the awesome cast - and the fact that it is now included free for Audible subscribers. And it is very good indeed, but I feel rather icky at including it as a "book read". As a "full cast adaptation" - or and audio play - this is clearly not the same as listening to or reading a book.

Why do people not learn? When the mounted steppe archers retreat NEVER chase them!

It's the best part of twenty years, if not more, since I read this and it is startlingly prescient in the way we've become mired in the rejection of expertise & embracing of pseudoscience, & the chilling effect of this on democracy.

One note: I'm listening to the audiobook narrated by Cary Elwes &, as Sagan's writing so carries the cadences of his own speech, it is odd not hearing it in his voice.
