The new characters have me HOOKED on this whole new arc, and my babies going through all their PTSD is weirdly comforting me (in a -they're more fleshed out and "real" if they go through aftereffect of the Shade of Magic events)

Do any of those people realise that they are committing treason, could be hanged in a heartbeat, dealing with demons and gods ? Climbing to a desecrated mountain is now a little stroll for a romantic afternoon ? Also why has no one mentioned that the prince-in-hiding had his face plastered all over town 10 chapters ago, but no one recognized him ? He was terrified of it but his life didn't change in the slightest ?

Might be a bit too ironic for the MC to state "I'm not *that stupid*" in the very chapter where yes, yes you're *that stupid* and I hate you.

The male MC is so painfully stupid it's an outrage to have his POV. It's not endearing or cute, and even for YA it reaches a depth of idiocy that makes it hard to read through.
I guess that's my main complaint honestly, some things are so on the nose, even without the double POV that makes some information available to the reader but not the characters, there are things him in particular should be able to articulate.
