Loving the LA setting, unsurprisingly the Vietnam angle is more complicated since my father was there--and they never really left it all behind. I actually am having issues with how open Harry is being with Wish. Funny stories, even dangerous incidents--not a problem believing, but he's revealing unresolved emotional triggers to someone he's recently met. I can't believe that he'd give that kind of leverage away.

The photos were of the smiling faces of young men who had dropped down into hell and come back to smile into the camera. Out of the blue and into the black is what they called going into a tunnel. Each one was a black echo. Nothing but death in there. But, still, they went.

While I prefer the earlier idylls for their poetry, these later ones offer an interesting slice of life viewpoint. "The Women at the Adonis Festival" is humorous and everyday.

Ocean, dead people and tromping around the West Country--what's not to like. Of course, I've never read this series before so starting at #25 is completely logical.
