The first person pov was initial off-putting, but now I'm just cruising.

I had my doubts, but this is good. My thanks to Sophia's review that led me, here. That said, they have the setting listed as Italy, which is absolutely driving me bonkers because Italy didn't exist. It's setting is Syracuse, Magna Graecia.

Very repetitive. I wish I could read the condensed scholarly version of this. I don't know if I have the patience to read this. It reiterates concept statements over and over again with a few really interesting nuggets in between that I feel bad dnfing, but I'm heading there.

So much gentler than the Dublin series. Ruminating.

Wow. Need to ruminate, but at the end of the day: If you're in the perfect mood to read McCarthy, then you probably shouldn't be reading McCarthy.
