the level of comfort that the concept of decay brings me is quite interesting. I have a hunch that this is gonna become a favorite.

Tension is building!!!

reading this is very much like being in a dream, aided by the way the time-line skips and jumps. I don't think I was ever this entranced by the whimsical in a book before.

the blurb wasn't lying: this sure is an enchanting read

I took a nap in my work break after reading a few pages of this, which felt very fitting.

I like the dark and dreary vibes of this (changelings were always some of my favorite myths!) but I'm getting a little impatient for the story to start already.

You know, it's... alright. The narrative flows well and it's enjoyable to read, but I'm not finding it amazing or anything. Constantly have to remind myself not to be annoyed at all the talk about God and marriage. I fear I'm going to finish this book thinking it's "just ok".

Jude is really "I support women's rights, but more importantly I support women's wrongs" and I'm living for it.

Also loving the wicked whimsy of the faeries. I have a feeling I'm gonna like this book.

I have to admit, I’m liking Alina a lot more in this book. It’s interesting to see her straddling the line between humanity and sainthood, and struggling with it, both a powerful leader and a lost girl full of fears. Mal, too, has been less annoying, and has at least recognized the mistakes that made him insufferable in the last book. I hope this keeps up!

This book is great and interesting, but unfortunately I'm not vibing with it very much. Too bad, cuz I've read too much to dnf it now.

This book is really christian huh

I'm enjoying it, all the gothic vibes and the horror elements. But it's actually really interesting how such a classic tells so much about the period and society in which it was written.

It is becoming increasingly clear that this is a thick-ass book. Dear Dracula, give me the endurance to get through this.

Honestly I don't blame Jonathan for freaking out. He's traveled to sell a house to a fancy European Count, but then the guy's super creepy, does all the household chores despite bragging about his superiority over the common man since he's "nobility", and one day you just see him crawling down the castle wall like a lizard??? I'd want the fuck outta there too.

I feel like I’m waiting for something, something to happen or for me to feel something, but nothing does so I dunno??? At least the mythology is interesting.

Gonna be honest folks I'm Not Liking This So Much. I now understand why so many people despise Malina. He!! is!! so!! annoying!! Alina is also floundering, but at least her dark descent is kinda interesting. Nikolai is my fave by far.

God but Mal is annoying. Possessive white bread boy trash.
