This book started well - but has slowed into a very non interesting plot. I hope the second half is more exciting - it certainly looks like as things are starting to move a little more lately.

This book starts at chapter 6. Everything before that is a mere prologue. #amreading #missperegrine

At chapter 4 I have mixed feelings about this book. There's a lot of telling and little showing so far. The second chapter dragged for too long on unimportant events. As the plot moves to the island, the quality improves

I am forcing myself not to give up in this book! The best thing about it is the cover. The narrative is none-existent, there is no character development and plot wise it is a mess.

So far not impressed by this book. While the first chapter set a great promise, the following four chapters just wiped out all the positive. There is a description in the third chapter that is so poorly written, that one wonders if there was any rush on finishing and cleaning this book prior publication.

The book decays after the midpoint and you wonder if having the book written by two authors has something to do with that. At this point of the book there are little to no stakes at game to create suspense. Want to finish it soon so I can read something more.

"A thousand years of dominion went ringing across the Thames like a trumpet blast. Anglo-Saxon and Viking-Normand ancestry combined in a chord that had deafened and conquered nations. It expected the moon to bow the knee. If not, so much the worse for the moon."

Ok, I had to stop to read the reviews on the book now that I am well after the mid point. I am starting to get miserably bored with it and all I want is to get it done so I can move to something more exiting. I thrills me to think success in writing is not about writing well or having amazing stories, but more about who you are and where, what agent you have and who gets to read your work...

I enjoyed the book and it's worth reading. I would recommend as well.

Spoilers -

I however only give it 3.5 stars because I felt some of the plots and sub-plots had too many holes, the dialogue -at times- was extremely forced (especially with Sophie, many times I could not tell if it was really her character talking or someone else), and finally there are too many cliches of the French live
