sometimes I think the book kinda meanders but hey that's the life of a lonely underachiever, so it works. and Koja will always throw in something compelling enough that even when I put the book down I'm thinking about what's going down when I pick it up next. also finding this surprisingly a lot funnier than anyone prepared me for.

this novel is so much fun, once you learn to acclimate to melville's grandiose prose and off-kilter way of presenting his ideas then it's just a joy to pick up every time

ishmael is the most charming unreliable narrator there is. just a wildly imaginative dude who loves a tall tale. who can say what's true or not if the book itself is fiction?
