I was craving a good grim, and creepy mystery book. And this is doing just great so far,

Idk why but i find this book funnier than i have the previous ones.

One thing that always disturbs me, even in fiction is the death of children. I can handle pages of brutal torture but just the mention of the death of a child leaves me sick. Also I don't really trust Keenan

I still don't like Helene. She needs to choose Elias over the empire it I'm ever to like her. Right now she's just in the way.

I hope to god Elias doesn't die. I swear if this book doesn't end with Elias and Laia together imma scream.

I like the connections to the Broken Empire trilogy. And since they mentioned they'd be traveling through Ancrath I'm hoping this means we'll get to see a certain a Prince of Ancrath.

So i sense romance between Cyprian and Radu which I'm all for but certain will lead to complications. Also I love Hunyadi and don't trust his son. I think he'll betray his father to get the throne is he needs to.

I love Radu because he's kind of awful like his Lada but subtly so. But I also feel pity for him because even though according to history Radu was a concubine of Mehmed I don't think in this retelling he'll ever be with him. It just breaks my heart.

Okay one thing. The months written above the chapters are off? When Lada went to interrogate that governor it was February but when she's on her way back it's January ? Whatever guess I can't trust them. I can easily follow along without them but it's annoying. Maybe it's a type in my edition but...still

Already excited. After just one chapter I remember how much i loved this story and characters.
