Complaints: 1) Descriptions are lacking in originality. Everything is based off other reference points. 'The elevator looked like the Star Trek lifts.' I get that's the schtick, but it feels like a shortcut. 2) This book is 90% exposition. Whole chapters are devoted to setting up a small piece of action. 3) Wade studied 30 yrs of pop culture in 4 yrs? Every episode, movie, book, & song; some multiple times? Come on!

I'm not very far in, but so far it seems like story hybrid between Willy Wonka and Hunger Games... with a heavy dose of 80s pasturbation going on.

I hate Harry Potter (the fantasy genre never did anything for me), and don't really care for vampires (unless it's True Blood, sorry Twilight)l but this? THIS I can get behind. Maybe it's only because I prefer the scifi dystopian genre, but this seems to have a bit more action than most. Anyways, I'll probably finish it tonight, and will have to resist starting book #2 immediately.

Hmmm. There's still 17% of the book left, but I feel like the story is mostly over. Guess I'm wrong.

Finally getting interesting. The first half was a bit too slow. I enjoy the characters, but maybe not so much the story. I'm not usually one for crime/mystery though, so that could be why.

This book is just giving me another list of books to read and other authors to research. Gertrude Stein and Thornton Wilder are frequently mentioned, whom I only have a passing familiarity with.

Returned to library. Interesting ideas, but not enough reporting.
