Meh. Seemed more promising in the beginning.
Bland characters. Spare me of those dull young average schoolgirl heroines who wallow in self-pity (a la Twilight).
Nice descriptions of the surroundings though.

I don't only read Whitman, I breathe Whitman, read the lines again and again and again, and then some more.
I was moved to tears when I finished Song of Myself. I legit cried.

This is so boring I can barely read a couple of chapters a week. I think I'll celebrate when I'm finished with the damn thing. This could've been so much better if Lawrence criticized society more (he does it beautifully), instead of writing about burning loins and "molten wombs". Ughhh :SSS terriblee

Re-reading a book you loved makes of you two a very special kind of conjoined twins. I am absorbing Jane's inner musings and observations, and every Rochester's line, and, as always, highlighting the shit out of this masterpiece. This has been, and is, the book of my life

I definitely prefer the 'uber feminist essay-writing Virginia' to 'abstract, stream of consciousness Virginia'. Apart for a few stories like A Haunted House or A Society, the rest is a kind of a very sluggish torture, similar to being slowly killed by a dull instrument, like a spoon or something. If it weren't for this 2016 reading challenge, I would've just abandoned it. Oh well at least I'm getting educated
