Loving the dramatic tone, although I sense a bit of self-indulgence which I'm finding hard to buy, as much as I sympathize with Mary (as the main character.) I'm still undecided on the 1st-person narrator being a good or a bad choice. It adds to as much as it takes from the story tbh. Also, should I blame those little mistakes and typos on the editor or the translator? Idk but they are bothering me AF

I came across the film on TV today and it struck me: I had to re-read the book. And I'm having so much fun. I find it particularly fascinating that C.S. Lewis actually states in the prologue that he intended to write a short story for his little goddaughter (and ended up with one of the most beloved fantasy series in history lol) because when you get to chapter 1 it DOES sound so much like a fairytale or something.

Rainy summer night and thought of throwing some philosophy into my reading challenge. I love this man's mind so much and I'm fascinated at how simply relatable some passages are, even though he wrote this in the late 19th century. Stunning.

I'm seriously considering not (finally) writing a review for this book because I might be just too much biased to be impartial. The plot, the narration, the characters, the structure, the dialogues... I don't have words to describe how I feel about the building and development of the characters. Ah, this must be what having a favourite child feels like. I'm in a heart-eyes emoji mood.

Re-reading my absolute favourite 'cause why not? I've noticed that this time I'm much more attentive to detail and less carried away by the plot (though I'm reading much faster too!) As a history nerd I have to say the historical remarks either explicitly made or slightly suggested by Austen give me LIFE. Also, I feel like in a gossip girl retelling but in the best of ways??

Quick update just in case I fall asleep: I surpassed the so dread chapter 4 and went on to chapter 8. Someone asked me earlier, "what is that book about?" and, well, truth is I couldn't come up with an answer, but I'm still glued to it.

Okay, Mr Rothfuss, it's getting personal between you and me. I will not condone that this book is getting deliberately longer than it ought to be. I'm also getting way too tired of Kvothe 'cause, you know, I don't buy that "hey here are all the misfortunes I've been through but you are not allowed to pity me" act. And that condescending tone of his --it'd better be over by the end of this story.

Third time I start this one. I've set it as my personal challenge to finally end it this time because, have you seen how short it is? But it's so. Freaking. Hard. All three times I've found the first chapters wonderfully written and catchy, but once it starts digging into the actual story... it gets kind of messy. I actually got lost in this chapter and had to read it again cause I never understood what was going on.

Okay, I'm... not liking this book as much as I thought I would? As of now, I'm 200 pages in and nothing worth of an acclaimed epic story has happened except that someone "called the wind". Then... the protagonist has been nearly killed 3 or 4 times already? Nothing notable tho, so. I mean, 50 pages is enough for a decent introduction, let alone 200. I keep flipping pages wondering when the actual story will begin.

I'm finding this not only informative but also engaging. Neil deGrasse Tyson combines facts and storytelling with effective and visual results. The style is very similar to the one he uses to host TV show Cosmos, which -for those of us who have watched it- makes it easier to move forward.
Note to self: stop insisting on reading this before bed. You just keep falling asleep and missing the page you are on.

Halfway through and I'm still trying to make up my mind on this book. One thing is certain and it's that I can't put it freaking down. Seriously, I picked it up about two hours ago, drank two cups of tea, ate a few almonds and here I am now, writing this update with one hand and holding the book open with the other. Short chapters are a BOMB, so, see you in 50.

OK, only a hundred pages to go and something that's actually important for the plot and unrelated to our characters' love lives has FINALLY happened since it did for the last time twenty chapters ago. I was starting to fear that Johansson had inevitably fallen into every YA book's cliché... oh, wait. She did.
Btw, is it a sign of warning that I actually think the most interesting and likeable character is Darkness?

Everything that made Insomnia such a good book for me is gone. Parker has become a dull character, with no new goals or challenges other than finding his father, which he can't do YET (and I'm already halfway through). The storyline about his relationship with Addy is absurd and three unnecessary love triangles have been created in barely 100 pages. Also rough time bc of the nonexistent editing and awful translation.

Finally getting down to this one! It's literally been 84 years since I put it on my TBR. I already know I'm gonna enjoy it and I AM already enjoying it, so... what else is there to be said??

Por fin me pongo a leerlo! Hace mil años que está en mi TBR, literalmente. Ya sé que me va a encantar, ya me está encantando... nos vemos dentro de 800 páginas.

WTF fue ese encuentro? James, vos querés matarme, ¿no?
