Mark Stratton is finished with The Honor of the Queen (Honor Harrington, #2)
Bigotry sucks. It clouds judgement and makes people stupid. Author Weber is doing a fine job of showing this as opposed to telling.

Some of the names spawned by the California Gold Rush sound line something from a 'B' Western. Which is probably where they got 'em to begin with. As for me, I want to live in Slumgullion Gulch.

I've come to the conclusion I really don't like anyone in this book. Makes wanting to finish it difficult. Oh well, slog on I shall.

Interesting pastiche. Using the voice of Holmes is an interesting idea, but the author misses the mark. Too many pulp influences in the mix. Good story, though.
