One thing I appreciate is that Chastain isn't trying to ape Gardner's writing style. It's been fun so far...

Interesting essays on various aspects of the craft or poetry or what makes it tick. Hoagland makes poetry more entertaining by being witty, charming and most important of all, accessible to the non-poetry reader. He takes the subject seriously, but not overly so. I find this a plus.

Gloriously and copiously illustrated, this goes beyond a history for the casual reader, so skipping some of the text bothers me not at all. What I have read appears well researched, and any conclusions the writer is making are open to discussion and he makes that clear. Fun stuff so far

The stage is being well set and I am looking forward to more...more...MORE!!!!

Learning more about other reasons behind Prohibition. Anytime I can learn something of interest whilst enjoying a good read, well...that's a great thing.

Unlearning what I've been lead to believe about the Factory Beers was a good thing...now, onto the 20th Century...
