Reading 'Ice' by Anna Kavan has curiously whet my appetite to read this book, which is a surprise because the last time I tried to read it, I got bored halfway through and abandoned it. Neither did I take anything interesting from it, apart from the fact that it was pretty dense. So, I really do wonder. Anyways, seeing as I am in a better frame of mind this time, I may yet complete it, if not enjoy it. Wish me luck.

This book makes little sense. It's as if the author chose to write it in the framework of a dream: has a surreal general vibe, an amorphous, hallucinatory plot subject to random, senseless diversions and abrupt, extraordinary change of scenes without explanation. I'm diggin' it.

Hot damn. Why didn't I read this before.

This is good. It's the writing I guess, but I like the butler too. There is not much of a plot though, and if this keeps up, it might diminish my overall enjoyment of the book a little. Let's see what happens.

I like the interactions between the father and daughter. They are so openly frank it is uncomfortably funny.
