I watched a part of the author's ted talk today, and she gets an actual brain out on stage and casual pokes and prods it to explain the basic anatomy. An interesting teaching technique.

Chapters 2 and 3 explain basic brain anatomy as if you were a 5 year old. Which is exactly what I was looking for!
