The first three requests of the Lord's Prayer focus on God's glory by asking for God's name to be hallowed, for God's kingdom to come, and for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. When we focus 1rst on His glory, we put ourselves in a good position to benefit most fully.

Prayer is an act of faith because it is based on the promises of God in the Bible, and it involves trusting that God will keep His word.

The Lord's Prayer teaches us how to pray other prayers in a few ways:

It provides a model: The Lord's Prayer is a model for prayer that helps us approach God and align our hearts with His purposes.

(2) I think, what Kevin means, is that we must not pray selfishly for the things of the flesh.. But rather.. Kingdom prayers for God's glory, first.

1. We are ALL easily discouraged by prayer. We know it's like almost the main Christian thing we need to be doing. There is nothing more essential to the Christian life. It's more necessary than breath is to our lungs, more than food to our body! I'm encouraged by what Kevin says here, because we all just need reminders like this amidst the challenges of life. God wants to hear from us, because we are his children.

4. Enter more deeply into the faith and the Mass. Drawing more deeply into his transcendence. Meditate on scripture, his holiness and transcendence. And also think about how holiness is the foundation of all his divine attributes.

2. Both frightens and comforts me. I'm unholy and finite; God is holiness itself and infinite."
