Is there post-apocalyptic fiction that doesn't dissolve into misogyny and racism? It is a rather tiresome trope.

I kept coming back to this book. The idea was neat, and I love fantasy set in a time or place different than medieval Europe. But slowly I kept coming back to the book less and less. I, sadly, feel I have to abandon this one.

90 pages, 7 chapters in, and it has been a lot of exposition and adding of characters, most of which seem so normal as to be rather uninteresting. I thought the premise of this book was intriguing, leading me to want to read it for years. Once I had the book in hand, it has been even more difficult to get into it. Maybe I am just not into standard post-apocalyptic fare anymore.
