Decent memoir/philosophy hybrid so far. Wittgenstein still has the tendency to confuse me whenever he crops up, though.

Can't tell if I like this yet. Described as like Borges on the cover - so far more like Kundera. Teenaged me probably would have loved it. Grown up me is starting to find the narrator more than a little tedious. Which may be part of the point - not sure yet.

This is very good indeed. Suspect it wouldn't be much more than a novella by wordcount, but the unusual formatting / approach works very well.

I'm pretty sure this is quite good, albeit a bit hard to follow in these early stages. I'm just not in the mood for it at the moment for some reason. Might park for a while.

No idea what I was expecting from this, as I largely picked it up as a joke. But somehow so far it's managing to effectively combine solid philosophical overviews with politics, history, and a bit of dry humour. Good stuff.

Forgot I was reading this. Don't know why I stopped. Fascinating.

Definitely of a different era (feels more like the 1950s than the 1980s in terms of most attitudes), but very much brings it all to life. Episodic, nonlinear, entertaining and educational. Good stuff.

Keep reading before bed and drifting off, but this takes a little more attention than that. Lots of interesting ideas, lots of characters - hard to keep track at the end of a tiring day. Decent, though.

Oh this is *very* well written. Why haven't I read Chatwin before? Bad omission. Thanks to Werner Herzog's documentary on him for making me want to.

In a sci-fi mood lately. Too early to tell with this one. Hoping it's not just orientalist guff, but has had positive reviews, so...

Can't pretend to understand the maths, but getting there with the linguistics and logic. I think. Good stuff, but needs concentration.

Random charity shop purchase - a rare sci fi novel where I wasn't instantly put off by terrible cover art. Wild praise from sources of authority means it's worth a try. Decent enough so far, but it hasn't really got going yet.

Had to wait until Trump was on his way out to tackle a satire of Trump's America. Enjoying it so far. Classic Rushdie turns of phrase and humour, and chugging along at a good pace, despite the plot still being in the set-up stages.

Have been meaning to read this for a while. Opening chapter extremely promising. Looking forward to the rest - a very different perspective on Europe.

This is very well written and translated, but I'm not yet convinced it's my kind of thing. Am going to persevere for a bit longer, but I'm struggling to see the point so far, to be honest.
