Wanted to know more about Becky Sharp who is referred to in a few other books, so looked her up and embarked on this. Broadly speaking thus far: engaging but pacing poor (serially published.) More racist bits than I expected, and more foregrounded than in some other 19th century books I’ve read (Thackeray poking fun at Londoners willing to marry a Black heiress for her money involves a lot of a priori sneering.)
