Chapter 8 was one of the best chapters in this entire series. Hands down. Holy crap 🔥✨

I find it hard to see what the end goal is. Dismantling the colonial powers? Decolonising? Establishing a democracy? WHAT?

This shouldn’t be first person, either. She has 3 thoughts:

1) where is my mother?
2) Luther is hot. But the enemy. Grrrrr
3) I must destroy the monarchy (how??? We don’t know).

I love the political intrigue.

However - this world of ‘colonisation’ has been poorly thought out. It’s a whole lot of colourism, but hardly any aspects of actual colonisation.

But the colourism isn’t colourisming, because it sounds like everyone’s white? It’s just brands of blue vs brown eyes.

In some aspects, the world building is great. The colonialism of it all? Poorly executed.

What I don’t love (and gives me the ick): for a story about colonisation, I have a Very Bad Inkling that this is going to have the colonised FALL IN LOVE with the coloniser. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
