I got this book last week and started reading it over the weekend. I wouldn't say it's been slow going because not all of what's taking so long is the book's fault. I had a lot going on over the weekend and didn't find much time to read.

But I will also say that I keep getting distracted by the nagging thought that it doesn't read anything like Laurens.

And I can't put my finger why exactly.

I was in the mood for something with actual mythology in it and thought of her series about Akora (a version of Atlantis). The only thing is that there are books about Viking/Saxon inter-marriage preceding those that I had to refresh my mind about. And one thing led to another. I wonder just how many of these I will actually reread? ;-)

Since around New Year's I've been working my way through many of my longtime favorite authors, i.e. the ones that I have significant keeper collections by. And it's an interesting journey, rediscovering books I may vaguely remember at first, only to find out they for the most part hold up.

I know I've had this book for years. I'm pretty sure I've read it already. How come I don't remember any of it? o.O

The name of the high school, Mediocrity High, cracked me up - until I realized that was the name of the town. O-kay. Onward and upward. ;-)

I didn't even know I had this book until I stumbled on it so I'm just starting it.
