Really seeing the resemblance between Rhys and Xaden (or at least Rebecca Yarros is trying really hard to make Xaden like a Rhys 2.0). But sorry, Rhys is forever OG number 1 King of Romantasy.

The stakes also don't feel that high because the people who want to kill Violet just make empty threats without actually doing anything. Doesn't help that their dialogue is a bit flat too, so they come across as whiny 5 year-old boys. I'm just waiting for them to cry for their mommy (eye roll)

Violet reminds me a bit of Lila Bard from Shades of Magic, and I don't mean that in a good way :/
