Cherry is starting The Ministry for the Future
I’m having a hard time listening to this on audio. I can’t seem to keep it long enough to get through many chapters before it’s due back for patrons on the waitlist. Then months go by before I am eligible to take it out on loan again. Each time I get more and more lost as to the characters. This might be a better read than audio for me.

I had to put this on pause. It’s just too real.

Pausing on this book. It feels too real for me to emotionally process right now.

Mona Brecker, age 102: Although I don’t agree with her critique that that women’s suffrage and work culture is the reason for the breakdown of family and community connection, I did appreciate this quote. “I think our whole country- private life, public life, everything- has swung more to the financial aspect of life, not for the creative and wonderful things that life can offer.”

Cherry is starting Outcasts United: A Refugee Team, an American Town
This book is a "Community Read" where I live. A few community organizations have donated the books so that residents can all read the same book. I don't think they have a book club organized, which is unfortunate. What's the point of making it a community read if it doesn't build community?

I the humor of this book so far! "What on earth would I do if four bears came into my camp? Why, I would die, of course. Literally shit myself lifeless. I would blow my sphincter out my backside like one of those unrolling paper steamers you get at children's parties......"

Hoping that starting this book will give me the push I need to start backpacking today- and to ignore the rain.

I'm struggling to get through this book but really want to have at least half read before book club at work. I truly appreciate the concept and its' historical importance. But the writing style, maybe due to translation- doesn't resonate with me.
