2 big impressions from ch1: 1st, Wagner is trying to remake Captivating, which just can't be done, and 2nd, this is a book on how to deal with rejection, bc let's face it, no matter how godly we are, no matter how good/bad n the world's eyes, we can't earn or keep anyone's love So in a way her book is probably all a moot point, which is why she keeps throwing in the bit about learning how to deal with rejection. Just as Summerfield feigns indifference to cope with his fear of the future, I write a [poor and incomplete] book review on the matter.

Update following the completion of ch 5 The final sentence in Walt's letter to Hayes finally revealed to me the reason behind the uneasiness I feel when reading this novel, fully explained why I am so caught up in the drama and yet reel from the horrors the main character daily faces. I knew this all along, and habitually tend to associate more and more with him and our conversations,
