Honestly, I went into this book with 0 expectations. I thought I wasn't going to like it.

A few chapters in I was considering dnfing.

But now?

I'm obsessed... and I have no idea why 🤔

I was looking forward to Elm's point of view but up until now it's all been filler, and more filler. Especially the whole 'I've always been interested' with Ione... Don't like that arc at. all.

Also, we're getting this moment of "revelation" to make us gasp like it is brand new information, but it was already shown in the previous book 🤷🏻‍♀️❓

I'm sorry, but I don't get it.

This "relationship" between Elm and Ione that came out of nowhere is sooooo uninteresting...

So... Elm is going to fall in love with Ione just like Ravyn fell for Elspeth? Will they have the same arguments as well??

What is Ione's purpose in the story? Because I can't see it.

Elspeth's voice (her character) feels so immature and young that all this smut is making me feel very, very uncomfortable.

It's like the author wrote a fantasy book, showed it to the publisher, and they said, "Romantasy is the current trend, so you need to add a romance plot in somehow." She did that, and it doesn't fit with the story.

That's why I think it feels a bit forced and bland.

hate the romance love everything else

I'm really having a great time with this book series. It's so light and fun, the perfect palate cleanser between the more serious stories I've been reading recently.

There's none of the typical drama, just pure enjoyment.

I'm sorry, but I really don't understand why fantasy romance books are so obsessed with making the female main character (FMC) angry at the male main character (MC) for keeping secrets when she's doing the same. It just seems lazy to me.

I've already read three books this year alone where this trope keeps happening.
