Been meaning to read this for a long while now, and I think it will give me some interesting counterpoint to Ray Kurzweil's book The Singularity is Near which I recently finished. Chapter 1 was a wonderful overview of the history of thinking about consciousness.

I was getting a little concerned about the author's attention to detail as I noticed what may have been several philosophical errors in the introduction (by that I mean I noticed what I considered errors that could be used to invalidate an argument if one was being made, such as mistakes in classifying items, or using the same term to mean different things, or confusing "mind" and "brain").

I so loved this show when I was growing up...
