Well, that was a curveball. And a sharp bend in the arc. My interest is suddenly piqued. But I let my opinions from the first 75% stand

I'm having a hard time powering through this. I just wish it had more "meat on it's bones" - the premise and setting and character tropes are all right up my alley, but the implementation lacks... substance and flavor.

And then the plot thickened

Halfway through this and I still don't really feel like the characters have much dimension, I'm getting tired of being authorsplained [lectured on topics I know very, very well], and I'm ready for the plot to get moving. I do however like how the narrative is centered on women's experiences, that's a glorious breath of much needed fresh air.

Did I just get hit in the head twice with The Moral Of The Story stick?

Forgot to mention I'm reading this for the Beyond Reality group read.

12.7% into this thing and I can see why it was an NYT bestseller. So far, it feels like a milquetoast combination of a faded copy of Neuromancer meets "Three Robots" from the Netflix series "Love, ,Sex and Robots". I like the economy of action and world description; but the economy of character description feels sparse rather than eloquent.

I meant to get the latest edition but ended up with this in my cart instead. Good thing the stories aren't relying on temporal context.

If they Mary Sue the conclusion to the series I will be So.Pissed.Off

I had erroneously believed until I started this book that this was a ten part series.

They can build him back. Better. Stronger. Faster.

I think this book is the nadir of the series arc

Kudos to the authors for skipping over 30 years of dull character building.
