I’m gonna need therapy after this…

No magic amulet to move the house, just pure intellect and construction tools.

So Jenner and his followers died from getting shocked in a hardware store. No final battle with a clash of ideologies between him and Justin I see.

Almost theorized Johnathan letting himself get killed by Dragon to avoid telling the dreadful news of Mrs. Frisby dying long before him, but Ages said he’d have told her eventually, and I’m sure the rats would have enough intellect and empathy to convince him otherwise. I know he still gets killed, but he’s not shown to be suicidal. He wants his family not to worry.

They further learned literacy skills from an empty mansion’s office library.

With their enhanced intelligence, the scientists taught the rats how to read, and said rats caught on to written and spoken words quickly instead of us inferring the serum they were injected with gave them reading capabilities on its own. Them being taught reading was foreshadowed with Isabella learning it.

We see the rats are a lot more practical, and strategic with their plan to leave the farm. Not sure why else Isabella is there beside proving the rats know how to read, and research in depth.

Timothy is somewhat of a nihilist here. He’s well aware of his condition, and how his limited mobility might prevent him from getting out when Moving Day arrives, but it hurts him more to see his mother and siblings worry so much about him. His sense of longing for basking in summer weather makes the situation more dire. Poor kid.

The owl here relates to Mrs. Frisby’s struggles of moving houses, since his tree is breaking down; it’s an added bout of sympathy from him to her. Since he knows a lot of things about the land and its creatures, I’m curious to see how he admires Johnathan Frisby and what he and the rats did for him, despite not meeting Johnathan in person.

No scene of the plow moving and forcing the animals to leave during Moving Day, just starting and stopping as a test run for when Moving Day comes in 5 days. Decreases the tension and sense of danger and urgency only a little bit, but the threat is still there. Other side characters are more benevolent and less pretentious/annoying.

Jeremy's a lot less annoying this time around, and more detail is put into her motherly thoughts and instincts. We're told more about the kids' personalities compared to each other; Cynthia and Timothy have an endearing sympathetic bond. I know some of these things we could just infer from the film without having to be told outright, but it's an interesting comparison nonetheless.

Mr. Ages is less cranky and stand offish, and the details of Timothy’s illness are more grim, especially with the slight uncertainty of if he’ll stay healed after the medicine intake.

Compared to the movie, we get a more solidified sense of Mrs. Frisby’s home life and the rising fear the family gets of Timothy’s illness, which is established in more details.

Can’t help but wonder why the eagles didn’t fly away with Creggan during the escape when they had the chance. Now he has to backtrack for them and possibly get trapped again, unless Wolski helps.

Hope Creggan shows those Rannoch eagles what he’s made of for real. Maybe the spirit of Callanish be with him.
