Tarassenko, "Recruitment Drive": actually well done twist and humorous, I enjoyed the read, but epic DnD party-esque that ended too much with a familiar feeling of shire wizards machinations. The interview reveals the influences and ideas that support the story style. I look forward to the author improving as a straight up SnS writer.

Good interview, too, I like the new questions. Anyone wishing to learn more about Seth should check out my interview with him on 24 and 42.

Lindberg, "Immolating Ember": This is probably my favorite of Seth's dyscrasia tales. The imagery is mind-blowing, the action fierce, and the promise of so much more powerful. It's written in first person which can be a challenge, but this is super smooth, pulling the reader nicely within. I'm not 100% sold on it being truly S&S but it is a great heroic dark fantasy tale that is a joy to experience.

Wow. And whoa. This story is a tripped out whack job...with some great one liners and astute observations and rather well-done character growth. But a whacked out tale nonetheless.

Long, "None so Blind": exciting battle and mayhem and staunch warriors leading the way. Some pretty impressive prowess on our hero's parts. Very much a piece that anticipates knowledge of the world and goings-on. Rather fun.

Wacky story! Some clever funny lines, but otherwise really messing with the head.

Meh, art still works but the 3 part to Kane's tale omits/squishes a lot and is nowhere near as cool as parts 1 and 2. And the closing filler silent mimicry of "Frost Giant's Daughter" is lame.

Issue 2 Solomon Kane's "Master of the Hunt" Part 2 was fun and filled with decent art.

Issue 3 Conan "Wolves of the Tundra" was ok. Very good art and a funny denouement.

This is a most unusual story.

This opens with an illuminating observation on the true source of fans absorption and intense obsession with violent sport: their insatiable inner bloodlust they cannot reveal. Our hero, of course, is most unlike them though, and readily confesses he is not there to cheer a team, a school, a player, but blood! And battle! And triumph!

It is a splendid beginning.

Second story HEIR TO THE SEA was equally as a good a story as the first ALLWINTER. Art was okay, more pastoralish and quaint, not bad at all but nothing as sweet as that from Tirso. Nice addition.

ALLWINTER is simply terrific! It is the best comic I have read in forever. Perfect story, filled with perfect characters, no bad art, intriguing, interesting, exciting, thrilling, dangerous, mysterious, courageous, honorable, fantastic, and bloody badass as hell! 10 stars!

Didn't see that coming. Nice utilization of the DC characters.

Before that, though - what an awesome Deathstroke and Batman team up in an S&S world!

Absolutely freaking loving this! Great art, great lines, great story. Definitely Sword and Sorcery.

This thing starts with a bloody bang and doesn't slow down! Conan and Calthus and God of War rolled into Deathstroke. COOL! Story & Art rock.

Sure filled with exciting dangers and thrills. Not sure the transition to our heroine suddenly being in full contact with her former pal after more than 25 years of broken relationship really works but it does get us to Part II of the story. Which has really stepped up the violence nicely.

Payne, "The Well in the Desert of Lop": opens with a great scene-setting sentence. Gives a terrific exchange between man and demon with the appropriate conclusion. Enjoyed its outcome.

This book has most definitely rubbed away any shine from Robert E. Lee.

And it seems thanks are owed to stupid selfish Southern self-important and -deluded fools the North won the Civil War.

Hilton, "Black Rain, Grey Snow and Red Death": Korvix hacks again! Exciting and dangerous tale with a good fight at the climax and a nice resolution that's strong and feel-good.

Waggoner, "The Kingdom of Memory": flowing exploration of death, memory, loss, hope.

North, "Into the Siege": began quite well, nice intro to character and setting. Enjoyable grand adventure setting up future stories for our trio. New to me author, nice addition to the CQQ club.

Bose, "Chitin is not Bone": appropriate title. Interesting world and people, passably interesting characters, the Baron of Bone being both sorcerer and warrior, which I enjoy. A rather surprising selection for CQQ in my opinion.

Doolan, "Bloody Escape": was a surprise on many levels: non-human characters, less than a 1000 words, and only a scene.

Mele, "Feast of the Hidden Moon": damn exciting story! Excellent setting, atmosphere, pacing, mystery, threat! Very fun storyteller. Great read!

Riley, "Lies and Treachery" part 2: I should have seen this coming but I did not. It does make sense with what occurred in part one. Part two is much more faster paced though honestly less exciting than part one. I'm not sure I buy the priest's reasoning at the climax.

Fun and encouraging foreword kicks things off!

McIlveen, "Snowblind": well while Onyx could be a cool character to continue reading, if all his stories are this over-writ and ponderous I won't be reading them. Way too many overwrought sentences and misused words and a very poorly constructed character Pelias, whose words, actions, and demeanor did not match.

Dang did the blood just ratchet up! Some exciting events have transpired here and it is a mystery what shall occur next!

Got to say this has been one clever story so far. And I'm really partaking in the living of it.
