Dang, another surprise! Good storytelling and pleasing art is making this a delightful read.

Exciting use of well established and known characters. Fitting and fine art. Batman is really coming into his own.

"The Shadow on the Stairs" was exciting. Not only did it open with looming failure and end with looming danger, it kept the pedal to the floorboard of tense danger throughout. Hanuvar displays quick wits, but it's the old guys he's rescuing that save the day.

So...this red text from The Batman Who Laughs ...is truly terrible for a reader with less than ideal vision. Very very difficult to read other than in perfect lighting, which has delayed finishing as I haven't been able to read this in bed.

Riley's Welgar - a reunion story for me but the story answer to the source of Welgar's condition - steals the show from the storyteller. Whom I really enjoyed honestly. Good battle, nice blades and magicks. Surprised by the tactic to switch protagonists after so much investment in the first.

I don't dislike Jock art but I can leave most of it behind - and this has remained constant in this GN. Story is solid, just enough twists and back-and-forths to keep readers on toes. Some nice plays on pasts and powers and positions. Looking to see how The Batman regains/maintains his wits.

Dark, dark, heavy, heavy, metal, metal. Grim 'Punisher' Knight is a scary dude. Batman Who Laughs Like Joker is a sick dude.

My flight read and it was a hoot and a blast. Chuckled aloud a couple times in the airport and on the plane. Kinky has some great turns of phrase.

"The Carpetmaker of Arana"...another cool story with a lot of buildup that just simply ends. Sort of Lovecraftian.

"Sword in the Tomb" had a huge buildup for a small payoff, and the hero's next story better share how he escapes

I am enjoying the blood and guts and strategies and military minds and sheer heroic immensity of the story, however, I have no idea if I would ever read stuff like this again with the 50,000 words used to title absolutely everything. There are so many capitalized major names for everything, they've all lost meaning for me.

Once again, enjoying Hanuvar, however, slightly less enthralled than with book one's opening stories. Chpt 1 provided a very interesting twist; Chpt 2 was a rather cool story with lots of intrigue and development; Chpt 3 told a very convoluted story to achieve a connection and then actually did not retain a particular item I expected put to future use; now beginning Chpt 4...where I am hoping for more.

Interesting read and turning out to be an excellent source of writing interest. This book, written during World War II, in its examination of morale begins with a thorough examination of fear.

Been a bit since I've been here so it takes a moment to adjust to the extravagant writing words and style. However, once again quite entertaining and informative stories of famous old gunfighters. And rather a lot to absorb in the debunking of Wild Bill Hickok's fame.

Pretty darn solid! I did not expect a gamer story, like a Ready Player One but S&S version, but it's definitely working. Not only do we get the S&S action and danger, we get lots of mystery and mysterious motivations. Nice set of characters too. Dangerous thrills are looming!

Hanuvar is back! Great description of our man in the opening to his histories. Quite interesting opening story with a twist that simultaneously gives Hanuvar a great advantage with what portends to be a great penalty.

Wow, indeed some powerful tales! I'd been told for years to read this book. Glad I finally am. There hasn't been much written with such virile passion in a long while. The pages practically drip with testosterone and bloodlust. Vettius & Dama make an interesting pair, and the telling of their stories is unique in that it often takes longer to get through their passage than it does to enjoy their victories.

A 2020s version of the Barry Sadler Casca, but with the twist of immortality extended to everyone Jesus healed. So far a pretty well-paced action adventure doing a present-past tapdance between events like the Highlander TV show.
