All the patients are scared of Damon sawyer (demon) who the night before was confined to a secure room after telling everyone he would kill them. The patients are all afraid and A thinks he might have broken through his bondage.

Flashback to the past jade and her mother are both spiraling. The house is in disrepair, dirt and garbage everywhere. They fight over missing pills and it gets close to physical. Jade steals a test and is either manic or coked up.

Jade confronts Amy in the hallway of ward d about how A ruined her life. They talk again afterwards and J seems depressed but still rules A up telling her to sleep with W.

Amy’s first couple hours in ward D do not ease her anxiety about being here. She meets a couple more patients including Will who she talks to in more depth. He has skitzo telling him to kill people but seems really normal otherwise. He plays piano and reads books Amy likes.
Cameron is trying to get back together with her in a way. He brought her her favorite treat.

I was hoping this would be a bit more about pirates and less about other books written about pirates but it’s still very early.

Treasure island is the book that a lot of the stereotypes of pirates where derived from. Written by the same guy who wrote doc jeckle and Mr Hyde it’s a teen book that started the ideas of ❌, treasure chests and pirates with parrots

Dusk brought a new day to his people
They will now sell there navigational services to everyone. The Drahkar has been transferred to the Vathi and whichever leaders follow her so it will be on planet.

Dusk joins Starlings crew forgoing his fee to be a part of team

Frost new chocoban and was there when he died. He was the voice D heard in his vision right before the final day.

S and her crew get there first saving sleepless before she is burned to death but the gunship N couldn’t disable is aimed right at them.
D arrives with a giant mythical snake just in time to eat the ship but save the survivors.

Vathi held on long enough and is still in command.
D & S arrive at the portal with a solution. They can become guides and a space port as the Drahkar will protect the perpendicularity

Eventually the machine gives causes a power blip. S’s crew uses the opportunity to open the door and free N. He disables all but one gunship

Dusk challenges the Drahkar. He uses the skull snakes to menuver to the middle of the island using what he learned navigating to the middle. He finds Chokobans grave and markings all around it. This is enough for him to gain power over the Drahkar. He tries to save C.

The challenges are familiar because they, like the Drakar is formed by intent and stories. They make it to the end and find a dead end and a medallion made of gold with Chokobans image. (Gold stores health and shows alternate versions of self.)

C has been taken for interrogation or to be killed.

S asks to test her manacles. During the test as her powers return she pumps power into them to stop them from breaking

C had tried to cross the center without first proving itself. That is what pissed off the drawkar. Dj and co try to kill it or atleast stop it but everything they try is useless. Harpoons get them killed, it easts the investiture shot from the intensifier. After a brief show of force it chills out and returns to its spot.

D & S return to the cave. D now knows the intent is to test him.

Snap back to reality DJ gives S one day to desire whether or not to be his body guard. She goes back to planning with the crew and they land on letting the intensifier fire again which takes power away from there locks. From there their aetherbond has a plan we don’t know about yet.

Both D and S hear screaming. End of book 3

Did the intensifier away the drawkar?
H mentions Sigzil/nomad. How is he still alive

S lets the Malwish test the intensifier on her manacles and with a little of the power it weakens them and allows them to visit the spirit realm. Once there she finds hood who pushes her to be a better leader but also lets her know he was trapped in a vault that opens “once in a long while”. His wife and twins are brought up but sounds like she doesn’t know who he is anymore. The twins might

The voice that dusk heard was a military police person that thought DJ was full of shit. Had no real knowledge of the situation to dusks chagrin. C bit him again and was Impressed in his ability to not let it read his thoughts. He knows there is no perpendicularity but not what is at the end of the tunnel.

The god of the gap idea says. god exists in all the things we can’t explain. As humans become smarter the need for God to explain become limited.

As mortals become more advanced in there usage of investiture the format deities become less impressive.

Dragons can soothe and encourage but so could breeze.
Hordlings can live a long time but so can allomancers

the weapon capable of breaking her manacles has no arrived and they plan to kill the snake with it now that D has left the cave today. The “convincing” DJ did to get D to stay in the cave was condescending at best. We also learn the Malwish have an Aetherbound in their staff which S assumed was impossible. Their escape plan is officially shot now

He freaks and leaves the cave to think. He thinks it must have been either DJ or S that put the sign there but then why the rouse about having him navigate. As he is leaving he hears a voice say something that nobody arose noticed. Something like “I know there is no perpendicularity and I know your lying”

S is given a final attempt to accept DJs offer to become his bodyguard.

Starlight also mentioned that nobody can navigate the unsea but that’s not true because D can. He keeps that a secret for now.

At this point D is very overwhelmed with the attention and has a hard time collecting his thoughts.

They go back into the cave which he realizes the dangers are in the order that he faced them when he first met vathi. This culminates into him finding one of his own signs in the cave.

C wants D to take them through the perpendicularity (join the club) and promises vague rewards in return. He doesn’t trust them partially because it speaks in his mind like many of the dangers in the island would.

S gets back to her crew which came up with a shooty plant to have there aetherbond pretend to be sick to get the Malwish (scadrians) Aether to sleep allowing them to escape.

Mostly stuff we already know but also interesting stuff on the psychology of a sleepless. There nodes shed and die just like our cells do. Yet they are one. There is not one central brain that controls them but all the minds are one. They have separate nodes for personality, memory, food collection, waste removal and on

On the way out of the cave S and D talk about the chances of D’s people to self govern. It seems slim to none but she is trying to be honest and helpful.

Once back in his room Chrysalis bites D on the leg allowing them to have a physic link. C can apparently speak to his aviar and knows a lot about his plant (first of the sun) as she has relatives living there.

She lore drops about the sleepless for a bit.

Now they can talk freely until a replacement drone returns.

Dusk notes that the cave has a pattern of dangers
1. Ants. 2. scorpians. 3. Vines. 4. Biting plants. 5.repeat.

This seems like some sort of test that the entity has set up. Possibly as a training ground possibly as a test of worthiness.

Dusk finds two guns. Takes one but leaves the other. He did not mention he saw the second gun (foreshadowing)

S and D go into the cave together. Dajen sends a drone to listen and follow them. S proves the dangers can not really harm her by letting a masher wasp sting her to dusks terror. She asks him what name he prefers which is in contrast to Dajen constantly getting it wrong.

They navigate through the cave taking carefully around the drone until they eventually lead the drone into a trap which eats it.

When she awakes Z has hacked into the cameras to give them a moment to talk. Crystalist eveals they are presents and that they can imitate there voices to feed into the camera system. This will allow them to talk unheard. Z is PISSED about that as she does not trust C at all. Fair given her people were enslaved by sleepless. A is doing to attempt to lull the Acadians aether in the ships

Dusk sets up a little play area for his birds and takes a nap. Cute!

The next morning he decides to enter the cave of death which is filled with traps from patji

Starlings manacles prevent her from sleeping the way normal dragons do. Instead of slipping into the soul world(?) where she can absorb investiture she instead is conscious in a black void left to think

Dusk is led to the cave of death which is remarkably similar to Patji. Dajen follows him in and tries to bargain for dusk to lead some men through in return for his people to be left alone. Dusk catches the obvious lie but goes along with it for now.

Dj tries to hire starlight. She lore drops a little bit about yolen. Offers removing her manacles using concentrated invst. Video inside Yolen temple proves he can.

She doesn’t bite and gives dusk a translation metal min that he can use.

THEORY TIME: the metal he has as a reminder of patji is invested somehow.

Dajer and dusk talk. Dajer thinks dusk is dumb because he is primitive but keeps letting info slip. Included that he got the info about this place from a college at the college on silver light. Must have been Ed of friends. Time dilation let them get ahead?

The scadrians made a deal with local authorities so arrested starlings crew is completely legal (allegedly)

The spot dusks boat and are real fake nice to him in order to get what they want.
Dusk kindof freaks seeing the big entity (snake) on the island thinking it’s from his mythology. It has killed three people so far.

Djiar is in command of the scadrians and tries to make a deal with starling

Thought creates shadesmar. This is why in Roashar it is all beads, similar to the spheres. On scadrial the land and sea are inverted and on dusks planet it is similar to an ocean with fish and snakes.

Shadesmar can be used as fast travel because people are bad at conceptiualizing the distance between planets. The more we learn about this though the farther they will become.

Start of book 3. The cave of death

Vathi gave him a month or two but he’s surely past that at this point.

He finds and island using his wave navigation and sees people that look like the ones above (they are)

Starling and her crew approach the same island and are arrested by the scadrians.

Chrysalist hides as they are likely the sleepless that assassinated some scadrian officials years back
