The multiple points of view in this book are interesting. It's like weaving a rug.

So far my favourites have been John Donne and George Herbert. Note there's one poem in here which - unless I misunderstood it - to be about the delights of shagging a 13 year-old girl from an older man's perspective - The Second Rapture by Thomas Carew I'm looking at you. Yes, I know the age of consent then was 12 but still. Yuck.

This is really good so far. Four separate character threads, which we move between, set in late-19th century Ottoman run - but British 'influenced' - Sudan.
