Richard Kasey - “A Hinterlands Haunting”. Pretty good. Short and sweet. A fake out ghost story. I did call it halfway through, but it’s not like it was exactly subtle🤷🏻‍♂️

Pat Cadigan - “About the O’Dells” . A fun one. The narrator really feels like a child, in the best of ways. The imagery is pretty good near the end.

July Girls - Alison Littlewood. A sibling struggle. The intro was very evocative, a quick introduction and then an even quicker death. By the end, I’m not sure how to feel about either of the characters.

Third Story- Whimper Beg by Lee Thomas. It might be my favorite so far. A spirit of vengeance who destroys the life of the morally corrupt and those who’ve failed paternally. The gay tragedy of the authors life and the bittersweet acknowledgment that he had found salvation, only to have it ripped away from him makes this ghost story uniquely personal. It really is an ‘echo’.

Second story done- “Linger Longer” by Vincent J. Masterson. Pretty good story, some kind of personality loop. The idea that the first ghost you see might as well be the protagonist. I’ll need to reread to figure out how the numbers fit into the story…

Just finished the first story, “Haunted House Tour: 1 Per Person” by Paul Tremblay and I very much enjoyed it! The fake out ghost and the later occurrence in the house encapsulate the strange feeling of remembering a scary moment you never got closure for as a child. Excited to see what else this collection has in store for me!

the stakes are raising much quicker than i expected, it’s pretty cool. i expected to be kept in the dark a bit longer, but maybe I still am somehow… enjoying this so far!

Protagonist goes to the college i’m attending now, pretty interesting…
