Reynolds' primary characters are the clones of Abigail Gentian. These clones have lived for something approaching six million years. They've made dozens of circuits around the Milky Way and spend long periods either in frozen sleep or in abeyance (stasis). What fascinates me about the concept is how an entity's mental processes would handle the vast expanse of time. Very cool implementation of the idea!
