originally DNF’d this back in october 2022 but am giving another shot as i’m at the airport and need to download something to read from libby quickly and this popped up.

i read this in like sixth grade and don’t remember much so am rereading

i obviously haven’t finished yet, and i haven’t seen the show at all, but i feel like a big part of the cleverness of this book is often not knowing if the mom is fully mom, fully dog, or somewhere in between and how far one way or the other she is on that spectrum when she makes certain choices. it’s awesome.

currently loooving. even if it plays on some tropes, i love a story of female rage and the dark humor throughout.

“the five hot dogs you can purchase in heaven” through about half way through “we are in new york city” have been the best part for sure. i fucking love jamie loftus.

the only part i’ve felt a bit bored by was all the joey chestnut stuff and the only reason is because i have listened to jamie’s podcast episode about him previously.

okay when i first marked this as “reading” / listening, i was unaware of the personal hell i’d be entering shortly thereafter. with that in mind, and that goodreads won’t let me edit the dates i’m “reading”, i am now actually starting to listen to this excellent book.

jamie loftus is one of my favorite podcasters, and also has an excellent voice so listening on audiobook felt to be the right choice

HELLO. i’m annoyed at myself for liking this book as much as i do. i feel like normally the whole marx section would annoy me in other books but it felt like it actually was done well and worked…

i know some people say it’s pretentious and i can see some of that but i do not care it’s genuinely so good like nothing in it is all that crazy it just is hitting

i think it’s gonna take me a while to read this one but i really like it already. feels very unique and like something i want to really delve into

was getting annoyed at some of the lore but it’s starting to come together i think

okay i def have some critiques but still it might be my fav book of the series yet….. i just love manon’s arc and am dying to find out what definitely happened to the thirteen.

okay i def am a little confused about some of the lore but the end of part 1 really hit so im excited

okay it has def gotten better but also i feel like i’m losing my mind trying to understand the timeline
